2018 Employment Projections

Employment is projected to increase in 17 of the 19 broad industries over the five years to May 2023. Health Care and Social Assistance is projected to make the largest contribution to employment growth (increasing by 250,300), followed by Construction (118,800), Education and Training (113,000) and Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (106,600). Together, these four industries are projected to provide almost two-thirds (or 66.4 per cent) of total employment growth over the five years to May 2023. Employment projections for the five years to May 2023 Each year, the Department of Jobs and Small Business produces employment projections by industry, occupation, skill level and region for the following five-year period. These employment projections are designed to provide a guide to the future direction of the labour market, however, like all such exercises, they are subject to an inherent degree of uncertainty. The 2018 employment projections are based on the forecasted and projected total employment growth rates published in the 2018-19 Budget, the Labour Force Survey (LFS) data (June 2018) for total employment, and the quarterly detailed LFS data (May 2018) for industry employment data.

7121.0 - Agricultural Commodities, Australia, 2016-17

This publication contains final estimates for data items collected in the 2016-17 Rural Environment and Agricultural Commodities Survey (REACS). Included are statistics on land use, crop and horticultural area and production, livestock numbers, farm management and demographic information. National and state/territory level estimates are presented in this release. Data at sub-state levels including Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS) (2016 edition) Statistical Area 4 (SA4) and Natural Resource Management (NRM) regions will be released as data cubes (Excel xls), zipped Excel files and comma separated value (csv) files attached to the publication. The REACS is conducted annually in the years between the five-yearly Agricultural Census. The majority of estimates in this publication were compiled from information obtained from the REACS for the financial year ended 30 June 2017. Administrative data from non-Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) sources were also used to supplement reported data. A copy of the 2016-17 REACS survey form can be found under the Downloads tab of this publication.

Agricultural land audit - Queensland series

The Agricultural Land Audit (DAFF Qld 2013) identifies land currently used for agriculture and land with the potential to be used for agriculture. Datasets were produced for 12 regions based on the regional planning boundaries. This metadata file relates to the Statewide datasets produced by the Agricultural Land Audit to complement the more detailed regional data. These show the locations of agricultural processing facilities namely: abattoirs, sawmills, sugar mills and cotton gins. Areas identified by the Agricultural Land Audit as Important Agricultural Areas (IAAs) across the State are also shown. Statewide datasets showing potential for broadacre cropping, annual horticulture, perennial horticulture, sugar cane and sown pastures were added to this series in November 2013. Australia Ocean 3D Bluelink Forecast Data Sample

This is a three-dimensional forecast of ocean state from the sea surface to the deep ocean. The OceanMAPS model is a Bureau of Meteorology operational global ocean forecast system with 0.1 degree horizontal resolution and variable vertical resolution. Dams (Angus Catchment)

The Angas Catchment Dams dataset is a subset of the Hydro Water Bodies dataset and is limited geographically to the Angas River surface water catchment in South Australia. The data set contains polygon data outlining the physical extent of dams and estimated dam capacity (volume range in megalitres) and wall height information (in metres). Dam capacities have been estimated using various methods. These capacities have been converted to volume ranges. The majority of wall heights have been measured on site using a hand sight level. Dam capacity and wall height is based on available information and although best effort and care has been taken in compiling this information, accuracy cannot be guaranteed. The dataset will change over time as further information becomes available. This dataset provides a general indication of dam features within the Angas surface water catchment in South Australia. The dataset can be used for applications particularly in relation to water resource management and emergency planning and response. This dataset has been released for use in GovHack 2018 and will not be available after the competition weekend.

This contains all the metadata collected by search.data.gov.au - information about roughly 70,000 Datasets, Files, Organisations etc, and allows you to page through or search it via a JSON-based REST API. The official Future Urban Structure (FUS) plan for any individual area is contained in the approved PSP documents incorporated into the relevant municipal planning schemes for that area. Historical rainfall and temperature forecast and observations hourly data (2015-05 to 2016-04), used to compare and verify forecasting. Data has been aggregated from one-minute readings into hourly values, for forecast comparison purposes. This observations data is partly QC'd. Forecasted weather elements include temperature, maximum and minimum temperature, rainfall probabilities and rainfall amounts. Different forecast products have different time resolutions, e.g. temperature forecasts are made for each hour, while maximum and minimum temperature forecasts are made for each day. This dataset is approximately 630 Mb in size.

Land and Soil Capability Mapping for NSW

This Land and Soil Capability (LSC) dataset uses the best available soils natural resource mapping across New South Wales. It provides a broad-scale, regional view as to the dominant LSC class present for over 3000 individual mapping units through the assessment of eight key soil and landscape limitations (water erosion, wind erosion, salinity, topsoil acidification, shallow soils/rockiness, soil structure decline, waterlogging and mass movement). The assessment of LSC is based on the mapping method and rule set developed by OEH (2012). It builds on the rural land capability classification and mapping undertaken for the central and eastern divisions of the state by the former Soil Conservation Service of NSW (Emery 1986) but with more emphasis on a broader range of soil and landscape properties. The mapping is based on an eight class system with values ranging between 1 and 8 which represent a decreasing capability of the land to sustain landuse. Class 1 represents land capable of sustaining most landuses including those that have a high impact on the soil (e.g., regular cultivation), whilst class 8 represents land that can only sustain very low impact landuses (e.g., nature conservation). These files record the particulars of travel of nominated / sponsored immigrants who came to Queensland between 1947 and 1976. Each file may include: a nominal roll of assisted passage migrants (passenger list), luggage lists, notes of passenger travel arrangements after arrival, correspondence on payment of rail fares, and welfare officers report on meeting ship. The passenger lists include: name of passenger (nominated immigrants), age, religion, occupation, country / place of origin, name of ship or flight number of aircraft, date of arrival, and name and address of nominator. For the majority of the aircraft files only the passenger list for the flight is included on the file. The files are arranged in chronological order by the date of arrival of the ship or aircraft. While each ship has a separate file for each voyage, the aircraft files include passenger lists for several months or a period of one year.

PARTICIPATION IN SPORT AND PHYSICAL RECREATION

Of the Australian population aged 15 years and over, an estimated 60% (11.1 million people) reported that they had participated in sport and physical recreation at least once during the 12 months prior to the interview in 2013–14, compared with 65% in 2011-12. Participation generally decreased with age. People aged 15–17 years reported the highest participation rate in sport and physical recreation (74%), while people aged 65 years and over had the lowest (47%). Male and female participation rates were similar, except in the 25-34 age group where participation rates were higher for males (67%) than females (61%). The highest participation rate for sport and physical recreation was in the Australian Capital Territory (73%), while the other states ranged from 54% in Queensland to 67% in Tasmania. Walking for exercise was the most popular physical recreational activity, with 19% of people aged 15 years and over walking for exercise at least once in the 12 months prior to interview. Females were more likely to walk for exercise than males (25% and 14% respectively). Fitness and gym were the next most popular activity (17%) again with more females than males participating (19% and 16% respectively). Males were more likely than females to play golf (6.6% and 1.4% respectively) or participate in cycling and BMXing (8.5% and 4.0% respectively).

School leavers who attended school in the previous year and who agreed to participate in the survey are contacted in April-May to determine their post school destination. The On Track survey seeks to: Offer a consistent and comprehensive approach to monitoring the transistions of school leavers; Report the information to schools, local government areas and other education providers and organisations concerned with assisting young people, policy makers, parents and students; Provide detailed analyses of the transistions experienced by different groups of leavers; Enable education providers to use the findings to monitor and improve their programs; and Provide a referral service for school leavers who appear to be experiencing difficulties in the transistion process.

There are a number of functions that retrieve species names, profiles, notes, statuses, images, species survey locations and project information. The EPA’s recent air quality data is a RSS feed that includes hourly average pollutant concentrations for ozone (ppm), carbon monoxide (ppm), nitrogen dioxide (ppm), sulfur dioxide (ppm), particles (PM10) (μg/m3), fine particles (PM2.5) (μg/m3) and station index (station air quality index or AQI) for 13 EPA monitoring sites. The station index is a descriptive scale that indicates the quality of air based on a comparison between pollutant concentrations and the relevant national standards. The station index determines the station air quality which is described as either ‘very good’, ‘good’, ‘fair’, ‘poor’ or ‘very poor’. If the air quality is classified as poor, then one or more pollutants in the air have exceeded the national standard. Nearly 30,000 Queensland soldiers had their portrait taken and published in The Queenslander newspaper before embarkation to World War 1. State Library of Queensland has digitised all of these portraits. Anyone can search, view, add a comment, and download a high resolution digital file of any of the portraits in One Search, our catalogue. We are also working with the National Archives of Australia to match and connect the soldier portraits with their war service record on the Discovering Anzacs website http://discoveringanzacs.naa.gov.au/. State Vegetation Type Map: Border Rivers Gwydir / Namoi Region Version 2.0. VIS_ID 4467

The NSW Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH) is producing a new map of the State’s native vegetation. This seamless map of NSW’s native vegetation types will enable government, industry and the community to better understand the composition and the relative significance of the native vegetation in their local area. The State Vegetation Type Map (SVTM) (http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/vegetation/state-vegetation-type-map.htm ) is constructed from the best available imagery, site survey records, and environmental information. Existing vegetation mapping has been integrated in some locations. Each vegetation survey is assigned to a Plant Community Type (PCT) and this is used to create a model of the distribution of each type. Their place in the landscape is then attributed based on the visual interpretation of vegetation structure. The SVTM is designed to be dynamically improved and upgraded as new local information becomes available. Each quickview map is attributed with a code for all three tiers of the NSW vegetation type classification system: Formations, Classes, and Plant Community Types (PCTs). The following fields are available for all maps: PCTID: The unique identifier for the Plant Community Type. The PCT Id is captured as part of the mapping program. PCTName: A colloquial description of the plant community that can be understood by non-botanists. It may include common names of dominant plant species, names of a geographical region, a substrate, a soil type or a climatic zone. PCTIDMod1: The most likely Plant Community Type to occur in the polygon, identified by its PCT Id. This value is as derived from a spatial model that may provide one or more PCT alternatives. It provides an indication of PCT uncertainty, as several PCTs will usually have some probability of occurring at any particular location. PCTIDMod2: The second most likely Plant Community Type identifier as derived from a spatial model. PCTIDMod3: The third most likely Plant Community Type identifier as derived from a spatial model. mapSource: The various sources of information used in deriving the vegetation map, including spatial models, visual interpretation and existing map products. vegetationClass: Equivalence of a community to one of the Vegetation Classes as originally defined in the Keith (2004) Statewide Vegetation Map. vegetationFormation: Equivalence of a community to one of the Vegetation Classes as original defined in the Keith (2004) Statewide Vegetation Map. USER ACCURACY of Plant Community Type Models: These results should be interpreted as a reflection of the model user accuracy, not map accuracy. [Map Accuracy = API Accuracy (visual interpretation of ADS40) x Model Accuracy (PCT Model Results)]. The accuracy of the API produced landscape class map has not been assessed at this stage. The model user accuracy below was derived by cross validation for CWL and RIV and by an 80/20 split for BRGN. User accuracy using cross validation is an estimate of how well the model would perform on a new, unmapped location. PCT User Accuracy is represented as a % (percentage). The number of field survey samples is recorded in the field Number of sites per PCT. The summary table below shows the number of PCTs modelled in each study area and the number of sites available (RIV includes pseudo-sites). The statewide landcover and trees survey (SLATS) has been analysing and reporting on change (loss) of woody vegetation since 1988 using Landsat imagery. The Native Vegetation of the Sydney Metropolitan Area - Version 3 (OEH, 2016) VIS_ID 4489

This layer contains digital mapping of the native vegetation communities of the Sydney Metropolitan area. Vegetation communities have been derived from the analysis of 2200 floristic sites collated for the study area. Identified vegetation communities have been related to currently listed threatened ecological communities listed under the NSW TSC Act, 1995 and the Commonwealth EPBC Act, 1999. Native vegetation communities have been mapped using a combination of detailed image interpretation, relationships between sample sites and abiotic environmental variables. The derived digital data layer includes fields that describe the vegetation community, interpreted dominant species and understorey characteristics, interpretation confidence, disturbance type and severity, NSW vegetation formation and classes and related NSW Plant Community Types. Addresses are provided as specified on the licence application, do not necessarily adhere to Australian Standards and may be outdated or otherwise inaccurate.
