Event Information

This event is hosted by Griffith University, Gold Coast campus in partnership with the City of Gold Coast.

The Gold Coast’s reputation as a technological innovator is reinforced by Griffith University’s status as a six-year node member of the national GovHack initiative.

This event seeks to optimise publicly accessible data to improve or facilitate a societal need or want, by calling on interested individuals from within a community to develop ways which showcase the true and intrinsic value of data.

History shows Queensland boasts considerable entrepreneurial spirit within such data acquisition. During last year’s GovHack, which was contested across 40 locations involving 3000 competitors, the state developed 84 different projects, making it the most active in the country, while also securing the second-most national awards. Gold Coast teams were featured among Queensland’s state winners and national finalists.

GovHack 2018 is your chance to not only make valuable contributions to society, but provides an avenue to conceptualise and develop your own potential start-up company.
